La Jolla

Любителям живой природы имеет смысл также заглянуть на побережье в Ла Хойе (La Jolla). Это само по себе очень красивое и довольно дорогое место. Ла Хойю называют жемчужиной моря с великолепными видами океана, парками, ресторанами и живописными закатами.

Этот городок расположен в нескольких милях к северу от Сан Диего. Ла Хойя - неповторимое сочетание южно-европейской курортной атмосферы и развлечений. Здесь можно увидеть причудливо изъеденные прибоем скалы, среди которых в лужицах кишит жизнь (крабы, актинии, рачки-отшельники ).
Кроме того в Ла Хойе живет небольшая популяция диких морских котиков, которые с удовольствием попозируют перед вашими видеокамерами и фотоаппаратами. Сама Ла Хойя полна антикварных лавочек и мелких магазинчиков, что также привлекает туристов.

В Ла Хойе находится Институт Океанографии - Institute of Oceanography, занимающийся научными исследованиями морского мира. В Музее Современного Искусства - Museum of Contemporary Arts выставлены более 3х тысяч работ различных мастеров и художников.
В Калифорнийском университете находится Международный Музей Мировых Искусств - International Museum of Worl Art.

La Jolla

La Jolla is located 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. It has wonderful beaches, cultural activities and fine restaurants. Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla is one of the oldest, largest, and most important centers for marine science research, graduate training, and public service in the world.

Scripps Institution was founded in 1903 as an independent biological research laboratory, which became part of the University of California in 1912. At that time the laboratory was given the Scripps name in recognition of supporters Ellen Browning Scripps and E.
W. Scripps.
